BENEVOLENT INSTITUTION TRUSTERS.

The weekly meeting of the Trustees o the Otago Benevolent Institution was held this afternoon. Present—Messrs Carroll (in the chair), Fagan, Gourley, Haynes, and Isaac.

Mr Carroll was elected chairman during the absence of Mr Solomon.

Accounts amounting to L 125 I2s were passed for payment. A letter was received from the Rot. J. Chisholm, of Tokomairiro, stating that a woman named Mrs Beard died there some time ago, leaving money and effects to the value of L 25 to tho Institution, and the writer begged to enclose a cheque for that amount. The receipt of the letter and cheque was acknowledged with thanks. The Secretary reported, that there are ninety-four inmates of the Institution, and that their cost for maintenance during the past month was 4s 10$ d per week per head. Mr Fagan remarked that the cost of the children in the Industrial School was 7s 6d per head, which showed a great contrast.
