VOLUNTEER INTELLIGENCE.

The fourth annual meeting of the No. 1 Dunedin Highland Rifles was held in the Garrison Hall last night, Lieutenant M'Pherson occupying the chair. There were about fifty non-commissioned ollicers and men present. Captain Cunn wrote stating his inability to be present, owing to illness. The Hon. Sec. (Lieutenant Henderson) read the annual report, and the Treasurer (Sergeant M'Callum) the balance-sheet, both of which showed the company to be in a flourishing condition. Principally by entertainments and by the members making themselves efficient for capitation, the corps had managed to raise LGOO in three years. Volunteer J. Mackerras waselected secretary, and Sergeant M'Callum re-elected treasurer, whilst Sergeant M'Kinlay, Corporals Nelson and Gibbs, and Privates Moft'att and Provost were eleoted a managing committee for the ensuing year. It was resolved that the annual meeting be held in future on the second Tuesday of January instead of in May as formerly. Votes of thanks were accorded to the retiring ollicers, and it was decided to present Lieutenant Henderson (the retiring secretary) with a memento in recognition of servico rendered to the company from tho time of its formation. The Shooting Committee's report showed that tho Highlanders had proved satisfactory shots throughout the several competitions.
