(Received Jane 30,1888, nt 12 15 p.m ) The Government have withdrawn the subsidy for rabbit destruction, owing to the methods adopted being ineffectual in their results, and have abolished the Inspector of Rabbits Department. ANOTHER PHASE OF THE CHINESE QUESTION. Sydney, Juno 30. The Postmaster-General has informed the Oceanic Steamship Company that the employment of Chinese on board their mail steamers may seriously militate against a renewal of the contract for the carriage of mails to San Francisco. WHOLESALE DEPORTATION. Brisbane, June 30. In consequence of the hostile attitude of the European population, all the Malays at Normanton have been sent to Thursday Island.
