INVESTMENT OF TRUST FUNDS
IN COLONIAL STOCK. London, June 27 (Received June 29, 1888, at 10.45 a.m.
In the House of Lords, Lord Herschel stated he was quite willing to propose a new clause to his Liability of Trustees Bill providing that trustees should be permitted to invest funds in colonial 4 per cents, when the price of stock had reached 105, and in 3 and 3£ per cents, when an equivalent rate is reached.
THE PANAMA LOTTERY A FIASCO.

It is stated that the Panama Canal lottery has proved a failure, and that only half the bonds were taken up.
RITUALISM IN ENGLAND. London, June 27.
The Archbishop of Canterbury has stopped the prosecution of the Bishop of Lincoln, who had been accused of Ritualism.
INCREASING THE NAVAL RESERVE. London, June 27.
Two thousand pilots and harbor officials have sent a memorial to the Queen, and offered their services on the seaboard in the event of war. The Queen replied thanking them for their kind offer, which would be taken advantage of should hostilities break out,
TROUBLE AT COREA. Shanghai, June 27.
Disturbances have broken out at Oorea, and marines from French, Russian, Japanese, and American warships are guarding their respective consuls at Seoul.
A POOR RICE CROP FEARED, Bombay, June 27.
Owing to the monsoon rains in India being overdue, it is feared that the rice crop will be wholly ruined. The outlook i 3 considered to be very serious.

At the Stockbridge meeting to-day the Cup was won by Fullorton; Reduction being second, and A Life's Mistake third.
