At the Amuri races Playboy (12.7) won the Hurdles by a length from Landsborough, and Premier (11.3) the Cup of 30aovs, two miles, Archduke (12.3) being second and Presto (11) third. Archduke (11.2) had the easiest of wins in the Culverden Plate, one mile and a-quartor, beating Securus, Forward, Playboy, and Patch, Premier also won the High-weight Handicap. The opening match of the Montecillo Football Club was played at Montecillo on Saturday, between sides chosen by the captain and deputy-captain. At 3 p.m. Mr A. Beck (vice-president) kicked off, and the play at once became fast, notwithstanding , the fact that it was the first match, and that members were hardly in such good form they might be. During the first spell neither side gained any advantage, hut in the second Noel scored for the captain s side. The score was not increased by the kick. Shortly afterwards Dodds got across the line and scored again for the same side, and from this Shepard placed a neat goal. The deputy-captain’s side now played up, and a try was gained for them by Bolton, which, however, was not improved upon. A short time after Noel again got possession of the ball and scored, from whicn Edwards made a fine shot at goal, the ball just falling short

of the bar. When time was called the ball was in neutral territory. The game thus ended in a victory for the captain’s team by 5 points to4|,» if At Invercargill, 6n Saturday, the ten-mile champion bycicle race was won easily by Hall, of Christchurch, from two other competitors. Time, 39min 29sec. At Christchurch the Lancaster Park No, 1 beat Lancaster Park No. 3 (15) by six wickets. The Park No. 1 have won all their matches, and will therefore take the Cup. Addington Fifteen won their game with Lancaster Park No. 2 (15) by nine wickets. Addington and the United 1 have each lost one game this season. St. Albans No. 1 are winners of the Junior Cup.
