(Received March 17,1888, at 12.50 p.m.) A subsequent motion to that agreed to by the Chamber of Deputies abolishing the wine duties was tabled proposing an increase of the duty on alcohol. After considerable discussion the latter motion was rejected, thus upsetting the committee's whole scheme. Brussels, March 16. Seventy different countries will be represented at the Tariff Conference. Austria, Germany, and France, however, will not be represented. It is proposed to publish the tariffs of the world in the French, English, German, and Spanish languages. ♦ .
