The German Emperor is stated recently to have said to a personage who congratulated him on his excellent appearance: " Indeed, I now feel very well; but I must be so, for I have one more wish which I should like to see fulfilled." After a short pause, he added with deep emotion: "I should like to hear once more the voice of my son, the Crown Prince, loud and sonorous as in former years." A man, being requested by a friend in a letter to buy nim some books, forgot all about the matter till he accidentally met him ; then, in his confusion, he endeavored to "set matters straight" by nonchalantly remarking : " By-the-way, I never got that letter you wrote about those books."
