(Received December 28,1887, at 1.25 p.m.) The Theatre Royal narrowly escaped destruction by tire yesterday afternoon. A (ire broke out in the workshop of the theatre, and it was only extinguished just when the flames were spreading to. the' adjoining buildings. THE CENTENNIaTeXHIBITION. MELBOURNE, December 28. Up to the 7 present time a quarter of a million feet of space has been applied for at the forthcoming Centennial Exhibition. OBITUARY. ,• ■ -.'■ MELBOURNE, December :28. The death is announced of Sir Robert Dalrymple Ross, v Speaker of the South Australian Assembly.
