Scene—Doctor's house. Little boy at the front door: "Is the doctor in ? 'Cause, if he is, I want to see him at once." Servant: " He's not in." Little boy : " Well, jest as soon as he gets home, you tell him to come over to our house and take that baby away he left last week. It's in the way." A good story is told about Salvini the actor's attempt to learn the English language. He took lessons in English, but when he found that it was necessary to say that a person went "on foot" he objected. " We do not go to a place on foot," said he; "we go on feet. When a language is so absurd and extravagant as to Bay that a person poos on foot, what is the use of learning it ?" . And thereupon he abandoned the English language.
