TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—Will you kindly allow me space to correct an error which occurred in my address at the Choral Hall last week? When comparing the probable state of the municipal account at 31st March next with what it would have been but for the retrenchment in expenditure an improvement of nearly L 7.000 is shown instead of about L 5.000. The error arose through a note of the difference in the income of this and last year (L 2,100) appearing on the memorandum which I handed to your reporter containing the details of the retrenchment in expenditure. I noticed the mistake on reading the report of my Bpeechon my way to Wellington, and should have corrected it earlier but for my absence from Dunedin.—l am, etc., R. H. Lbary, Dunedin, November 5.
