MUNICIPAL CONFERENCE.
WELLINGTON, October 81. The preliminary meeting of the municipal delegates was held at the Council Chamber this morning. There were present—Messrs M'Gregor, Akaroa'; Goldie, Auckland; Scaley, Ashburton j Mackenzie, Balclutha; Hulbert, Christchurch; Leary, Dunedin; Graham, Gisborne; Udy, Greytown; Turner, Hastings; J. Mackenzie, Hawkesbury West; Wade, Hokitika; Moore, Kaiapoi; Joyco, Lyttelton; Ormond, Napier;: Allen, North - east Valley; J. Ilf'Kenzie, Paimeraton; Moss," Parnell; Mills, ' Port Chalmers; Ross, Roslyn ; Taylor, Sydenham ; Kelly, - Tauranga ; Fraser, Thames; and the Mayor of Wellington. The last-named was elected chairman. It was decided to establish a Municipal Association for New sealand, but on the motion to appoint' a pommittee to draw up rules for its gulda,noe the espedipnpy j?f making the Association permanent was oalled iffques,tion, and it was determined to go on with the business first, and discuss this point afterwards. The meeting then adjourned till to-morrow.
