ANGLERS' ASSOCIATION.
The annual meeting of tlfeJßfcago Anglers' Association was held at Jthe XDoffee Palace last Light. Mr P. F. Stoddart (president) occupied the chair. There was ingbdex&te attendance, in consequence, pf the majority of the members being away fishing. BKPOBT AND BALANCE-SHEET. The annual report, p-eviously published, was taken as read and adopt <!. The balance-sheet showed that the receipts for the year amounted to LIS 9s, and the exEenditure to Ll3lßs, with a "credit balance of 19a lOd. The balance-sheet was adopted. SKW MEMBERS. The following new members were elected : Rev. R. Waddell, Messrs John. Mathieson, A. Anderson, F. Bamfield, J. Macallum, E. Chisholm, and S. Thompson. APPOINTMENT OF OFFICERS. The following office-bearers were appointed! President, Mr P. F. Stoddartj vice-presidents, Messrs E. Chisholm and W. Carlton; honorary secretary, Mr 6. M. Marshallj treasurer, Mr J. Edgar; auditor, Mr A. Anderson; committeeMessrs J. Ogg, J. F. Feake, J. Macallum, D. M. Wilson, J. Wilkie, T. Thomson, E. S. Smith, D. Keid, W. Aitken, and D; Russell. COMPETrrIONS. Mr John Anderson, of Edinburgh, communicated to the Society that he had secured a L 5 gold Jubilee piece for competion by members of the Anglers' Association for trout fishing.— It was agreed that the conditionsto be attached to the medal be fixed when the medal arrived, the secretary having received advice that it was on the way. On the motion of Mr R. Chisholm it was resolved — *'That the General Committee be appointed a Match Committee during the ensuing season; five to form a quorum." The meeting proceeded to make arrangements for the three competitions for the Association's gold and silver medals. The first competition was fixed for the 28th October, on the Shag; the second for the 9th December, on the Waipahi; and the third for Friday of race week, also on the Waipahi. It was! resolved, on the motion of Mr Carlton—" That the first prise be a gold medal, and the second prize a silver medal, for the aggregates of the three competitions." Arrangements were also made for the following additional competitions : Silver medal, presented by Mr Hale, jeweller, to be competed for on the Leith, Waitati, or Shag on November 9. For Mr Wilkie's rod, the competition was fixed for the following rivers:—Kamikn, Glenomaru, Kuriwao, or Waiwera, on November 30. A second silver medal, presented by Mr Hale, was fixed as a prize for members who had never won a prize, on the 22nd October, the fishing to be on the Leith, Waitati, or Silverstream.
New conditions for competitions were authorised as follows: Hours, six to four. Only legal bait. -No competitor to fish pa the river twenty-four hours before. Mr Chibholm proposed, Mr Cablton seconded, and it was re* solved—"That the position of competitors on rivers be mutually arranged.'* All competitors fishing on a stream are on no account to pan another competitor without his consent Any infringement of the above to disqualify the competitor.
