By oable from Melbourne we learn that the following is the latest betting on the Caulfield Cup :—Silvermine, 6 to 1 against; Meteor and Volcano, 10 to 1; Lava, Recall, Escutcheon, Oakleigh, 16 to 1; Pasha and The Levite, 18 to 1- „ ~ _ Nominations for the Dunedrn Cup and Publicans' Handicap are due this evening, and should not be overlooked by owners of borses. The annual meeting of the Tuapeka County Jookey Club took place in the Town Hall, Lawrence, on Wednesday evening, the Jith October. Mr J. C. Arbuckle, president of the Club, occupied the chair. There was a large number of members present, and -great interest was manifested. The secretary submitted the annual report and balance-sheet, which were received and (Adopted, and the Club were congratulated

upon having over L9O to their credit. After the meeting was over, the Programme Committee met and drew up the programme for the coming races, to be held on the 21st and 22nd January, which is to be presented to the Committee at a meeting to be held on Wednesday the ]9th. The programme consists of fourteen races—seven on each day; and the amount to be given away in stakes has been fixed at L4os L3O more than the previous year. There is very little alteration in the programme, except that the Trot on the first day has been "increased LlO, also the Flying Handicap LlO, the second Trot L 5, and the Consolation L 5. The Trial Stakes has been struck out, and the Stewards' Purse of L2O substituted in its stead.
