At a meeting held at Invercargill last night a joint stock company was initiated to place a steamer on Lake Te Anau for the tourist traffic. The local agent of the Union Steam Ship Company said they were prepared to take shares if the project was supported by the public. The question of purchasing a small launch at present lying here dismantled was mooted, hut no movement., was made further than that the provisional directors will inspect and report, The launch is named the Laura, and was bought some years ago in Wellington. She is offered, delivered on the lake, for L2lO. The proposed capital of the company is LSOO. The Bill raising the age of protection for young girls to fourteen years has passed the Illinois Senate. "
