SPORTING INTELLIGENCE.

The exhibition lacrosse match by the Dune/din Club was played at Carisbrook on Saturday afternoon, and, despite the unfavorable weather, there was a good attendance. The ground was too cramped as marked out, the ball going out of bounds constantly ; and being faced off eaoh time, this had a tendency to make the game a slow one. The grass also was, on the south side, very long, consequently it was extremely difficult to take the ball up with the crosse. M'Kerrow's aide won by one goal {scored by M'Kerrow) to nil. The Engineer*' Band, under Mr Benjamin, were in attendance and played a number of selections. The football match played at Montecillo on Saturday between Messrs Findlay and Company (Limited) and the Dunedin Iron and. Woodware Company resulted in a win for the former by 9 points to 2. For Findlay and Company, A. Cunningham and and J. Smith eaoh potted a goal, and a try was obtained and converted into a goal by A. Cunningham. For the Dunedin Iron and Woodware Company, J. Blakely and D. Dallas obtained one try each. The annual football match between the Combined Banks and the Civil Service was played on the Carisbrook Ground on Saturday, and resulted in a win for the latter by 7 points to 1. For the Banks, Matheson scored a try; and tries were obtained for the Civil Service by Williams, Malcolm, and Loudon. From two of these tries Lynch (Balclutha) placed goals.
