LATE ADVERTISEMENTS. BOROUGH OF MAORI HILL. BY-LAWS. "VTOTICIB.—At a Special Meeting of the Maori J3I Hill Borough Council, hold on August 31st, the Council passed a resolution adopting a code of By-laws with the following object or purport Ist, To repeal all By-laws now existing or in force in the Borough. 2nd. To regulate the proceedings of Council and conducting of Council business ; the levying of rates; keeping of separate ward accounts; duties of inspector of nuisances ; slaughtering of cattle ; erection of porticos, verandahs, etc.; trimming and planting of live fences and trees; naming of streets; numbering of houses ; registering names of streets; flow of water, etc., from houses, buildings, lands, etc.; the construction and tnaintenanoeof drains under and crossings over footways, etc.; lighting of dangerous places; distance between wooden buildings ; roofing of buildings ; keeping swine ; inspection of dairies; use of barbed wife; blasting of rock, timber, etc.; discharge of firearms; making cellar doors or openings on footway ; laying out streets or building therein; side of road to ride or drive ; carrying material projecting beyond wheels of vehicle; names on drays; driving more than one vehicle; penalty for breach of these by-laws. '3rd. To prevent riding, driving, etc., along or over footway or channel; obstruction of street with building or other material, fences, etc.; cattle being at large without guidance, or driven on footpath or channel, or through streets within certain hours ; breaking-in or testing any animal in street; lighting fires in open air ; throwing glass, ashes, etc , or trailing sledge, timber, etc., on street; allowing or spilling night-soil on street; posting placards; opening drain; dirty yards, etc., and nuisances by offensive smell or otherwise ; obstructing footpath, street, etc., with goats ; standing or loitering on footway ; carrying obstructive materials on footway ; beating carpets, flying kites,, using bows and arrows, or playing games in street; throwing stones; furiously or negligently driving; driving without holding sufficient reins ; driving without lights; driving other than walking pace round corners; leaving horses or cattle uncontrolled; driving dog or goat attached to vehicle; leaving plough, cart, etc., on street; slaughtering or ; skinning animal on street; defective foundation near footway; destroying, damaging,-polluting, or obstructing dam or stream, etc,; construction of dams, etc., in stream; removing stone, gravel, wood, < etc., from streets or stream. A copy of tho proposed .By-laws maybe inspected at the Woodhaugh Store, at the Maori Hill Store, or at the Borough Offices, during office hours, until Wednesday, September 28, when a Meeting of Council will be held to confirm the same.
