THE MUSEUM.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—l shall be glad if you will allow me to enter a protest against an unauthorised statement in your issue of yesterd *y, to the effect that “Mr Bourne made the model of the ribbon-fish lately added to the Museum exhibits.” The specimen in question is not, strictly speaking, a model at all, as the actual skin is now in its preparation. It was prepared by my taxidermist Mr Jennings, assisted by the late Museum assistant Mr Bourne, whose help was mainly required for some carpentering work, and for making a cast of the head. As the matter has—most unnecessarily as it seems to me—come before the public, I may also mention that I am indebted to Mr Milward for valuable help in silvering the specimen.—l am, etc.. T. Jeffery Parker, Dunedin, July 21.
