FATALITIES AND ACCIDENTS

David Henderson, while packing logs in the Wheruahiki (Auckland) Bush, reoeived injuries from which he died yesterday. A daughter of Mr Johnston, of Katikati, Was badly burned on Wednesday through Her clothes catching fire while she Was engaged washing. She Was fourteen years of age. John Webb, who had been arrested at Tauranga as a lunatic, died in the lock-up. It is reported that Dr Home, one of the oldest settlers in the Marlborough district, perished in the fire at the Criterion Hotel, Blenheim, yesterday. He was lodging in the house that night, and has not been seen since. It was thought that he had returned to his farm, but that did not prove to be the case.

At the inquest on the infant of Rebecca Goodwin, at Tauranga, the jury found that the child had died from neglect, and censured the medical man in attendance.

Thomas Moore (colored), temporarily employed as cook at the White Hart Hotel, Christchurch, dropped down dead yesterday. A girl about sixteen years of age, the daughter of a man named Crysall, employed by Major Tosswill, Kirwee (North Canterbury), died suddenly yesterday. * She had been taking a horse out to the paddock, and when entering the garden gate on her return she handed the bridle to her brother, who was standing by, and fell down on her face. Aftor being carried into the house no indications of life were perceptible.
