THE MEN WE WANT.

TO THE EDITOR.

Sib,—l quite agree with Mr Downie Stewart that many of the inhabitants of New Zealand are greatly to blame for the depression we are feeling. If they did not return Mr Downie Stewart and other vacillating gentlemen to manage the affairs of the State, matters would be far different. The people of Dunedin would do well by following the example shown by the electors of Port Chalmers—choose earnest, consistent men, such men as Mr James Mills (if you can get them), Mr Keith Ramsay, Mr James Allen, Mr R, H. Leary, or others of that stamp. I find that the electors of Canterbury intend to discard the political fossils, and return such men as Mr P. Cunningham. H. Uodge. Port Chalmers, June 22,
