I was to-night thrown into the company of some folks who keenly, and, I must add, very ably, discussed the merits of Protection as applicable to New Zealand; but the amusing part of the affair to me was the fact that the principal opponent of Freetrade was wearing an imported diagonal coating, while his chiif adversary was clothed in colonial tweed made on the homespun lattern—l am, etc, Jacques.
