THE COLONIAL CONFERENCE.

[By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.] [Reuter's Telegrams.]

LONDON, April 25, (Reoeived April 27,1587, at 1.45 a.m.)

At to-day's meeting of the Imperial Conference the discussion on the question of Australasian naval defences was resumed. After the delegates of the Imperial Government had explained the types of war vessels which they proposed for Australasian defences, and which would be an improvement on the Archer type, several of the colonial delegates read telegrams from their respective Governments accepting the Imperial defence proposals, subject to the approval of the colonial Legislatures. Sir Henry Holland congratulated the colonies on their complete unanimity on the defence question, which of itself would be sufficient to prevent the failure of the Conference. Sir Patrick Jennings expressed confidence that the New South Wales Government would agree to the defence proposals. Apbil 26. The colonial delegates were presented to the Prince of Wales at yesterday's levee.
