SPORTING INTELLIGENCE.

A match in the Cumberland style was wrestled on the stage of the Bijou Theatre on February 26, H. Dunn undertaking to meet the two well-known wrestlers Blackburn and Thomas in alternate bouts, and allowing the aggregate of falls secured by them to count against his record, the match to be decided by five falls out of nine. Captain Cowan, of athletic fame,_ acted as referee, and gave general satisfaction to the few people present. Dunn was first opposed by Thomas, whom he defeated, winning the first fall in fifteen minutes. It was ascertained on Thomas retiring to his dressingroom that he had received an injury to the muscles of the back, which had been strained in the course of practice with Blackburn about ten days ago, and he was unable to take any further part in the proceedings. Blackburn was thus compelled to continue the competition single-handed, but, although he won the third, fifth, and seventh falls cleverly, Dunn proved the victor, throwing Blackburn four times, which, added to the first fall secured against Thomas, won the match. Consideringthe great disparity inage between the two men, the veteran Blackburn has no cause to be ashamed of his defeat by Dunn, who is a remarkably able exponent of the Cumberland style of wresting. At the conclusion of the contest Dunn announced his willingness to meet any man in Australia (Cannon or Dinnie preferred) in a five or seven style contest. —* Age.’ The Gordon Football Club have elected the following officers for the forthcoming season Captain, Mr J.
