At the annual sale of stock from Mr A, Towns’s stud farm at Townsville (N.S.W.), a sister of Warwick fetched 1,200 guineas, aud a brother of lolanthc 1,050 guineas. Mr W. Cooper purchased, for I,oooguineas, the Darebiu—Atholinc colt. Lord Carington was present, and purchased a colt and two fillies. Reuter adds that the horses sold averaged 271 guineas. At the Lawrence races yesterday the Maiden Plato, of 20 sovs, one and a-half miles, was won by Warbeck (9st), with Martyr filly (7st 111b) second, and Heather Boy (9st 11b) third; the Novel Race, one mile, by Specimen (7st) ; the Publicans’ Handicap, of 30 sovs, one mile, by the outsider Factory Girl (6st 101b), with Foul Play (7st 1311)) second, and Viking (Sat 21b) third ; the District Handicap, of 20 sovs, one mile and a-half, by Bushman (7st), the certainty Lackingtou having been scratched; and the Lawrence Handicap, of 50 sovs, one mile and a-half, by Garibaldi (7st 71b), with Viking (7st) second, and Mokarakara (9st) third. Knickerbocker Sam and Factory Girl also ran. Won by a length and a-half. Time, 2min 44sec. At a special meeting of the members of the Dunedin Bowling, Lawn Tennis, and Fives Club, at Watson’s Hotel last evening, it was unanimously resolved to admit ladies as members of the lawn tenuis court, with limitation as to hours, for an annual subscription of 10s Gd. Mr Taylor, who arrived by the Margaret Galbraith, was captain of the Queen’s Park Football Club in Glasgow, and played in the international matches England r. Scotland. ISLAND BAY RACES.
