WELLINGTON, Jan oaky 22. Two drowning accidents arc reported to have occurred at the Lower Hutt yesterday afternoon. One was a boy nine years old, who was drowned while bathing in a creek ; and the other was a child of eighteen months, who managed to get out of its perambulator, which was standing by the bank of a creek, and fell in, A boat belonging to H.M.S. Nelson capsized in ti.e harbor this afternoon, Three steam launches lent assistance and rescued their occupants after they had been in the water some little time. WELLINGTON, January 22. A meeting of Roman Catholics was held last night to make arrangements for the reception of Cardinal Moran on the occasion of his visit to Wellington to open St. Patrick’s College. A procession will meet the Cardinal on his arrival and escort him to the church and from thence to the College. A banquet will be given in honor of the opening, and a conversazione will be held on the Tuesday following. To-day being the anniversary of the province, it is observed as a close holiday. The weather is favorable for the regatta and races at Island Bay. CHRISTCHURCH, January 22. The Governor and Major Jervois arrived from Wellington at eleven o’clock this morning. ______________
