Mr James Paul was elected Mayor of Now Plymouth by a majority of 156 over Captain Davidson. Considerable reductions are being made in the Constabulary force. The ' Lyttelton Times' says that Sir John Hall is likely to remain in New Zealand for some two months or more, and at present contemplates making a return journey by way of Singapore.
