NEW PLYMOUTH, November 27.
Mr James Paul was elected Mayor of Now Plymouth by a majority of 156 over Captain Davidson. Considerable reductions are being made in the Constabulary force. Mr John Eliot -was re-elected chairman of tho County Council. CHRISTCHURCH, November 27. The ' Lyttelton Times' says that Sir John Hall is likely to remain in New Zealand for some two months or more, and at present contemplates making a return journey by way of Singapore. Inhabitants of Hororata, where his home is situated, are preparing to receive him in grand style. ASHBURTON, November 27. The Unemployed Commission sat here to-day. Only six men stated that they were out of employment. No caseß of destitution were reported to the Commissioners.
