STOCK AND STATION REPORT. Mr Donald Stronach (on behalf of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Atfonoy Company, Limited) reports for the week ended April 9 as follows : Store Sheep. -The demand is lees aotlve for all sorts except for merino ewes, for which there are still buyers in the market. Our only transaetion during the last week waa a sale of 1,000 cross-bred ewes. Wool.—Cablegrams to hand advise the next series of London sales to commence on the 29th inst., and is looked forward to with great interest, as a large quantity of Otago wools will then be offered. Locally there is nothing to report. Sheepskins.—We offered a large catalogue at our weekly auction on Monday. The attendance was good. Biddings were spirited, and prices for green tkins showed some advance on those of last week. Dry cross-breds brought 2s 3d to 3s 8d ; do merino, 2s to 3s 9d; do pelts, 2d to 6d; green pelts (cross-bred), Is 8d to 2s; do do merino, Is 7d to Is lOd ; lambskins, ls6dtols9d. Rabbit-skins.-Owing to the limited supply coming forward, there is but little business being done. The demand, however, is good, and there are buyers n the market for all consigned for sale at-for suckers, ljd to 6d ; mixed, medium, and summer skins, 8a to Is 3d per lb. „ , , , , Hides.-All coming to hand are easily placed, but late quotations unaltered. ... • » , Tallow continues in good request at-for inferior and mixed, 17s 6d to 255; medium to good, 27s 6d to 82s 6d ; prime, 83s 6d ; and rough fat, 20s to 2os per Grain —Wheat: Arrivals to this market are as yet on a limited scale and transactions very restricted, as growers appear in the meantime indisposed to sell at quotations. Millers are also so far supplied, and unless choice samples in first-class milling condition are submitted, offers for any other are scarcely procurable. We find a good many samples on the soft side, and any such being bagged and piled up will most surely become unfit for milling in a very short time. We quote prime milling, 3s 9d to 3s lid; medium, 8s 3d to 3s 8d ; fowls' wheat, 2s to 3s (bags included).—Oats: There is a fair demand both for export and local requirements, and all coming forward find a ready market, but without any advance on last week's quotations, which remain as follows : Stout bright milling, 2sld to 2s 2d; short bright feed, Is lid to as Id ; medium and long, Is 8d to 18 lOd, bags included.—Barley: Maltsters are now beginning to feel the market, and prime malting samples would command from 4s to 4s 3d; but growers' ideas of value being beyond this, in the meantime there is but little business being done. Rye-grass seed continues without much demand.
