PUBLIC BATHS FOR THIS CITY.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Once more thi3 question has been brought before the City Council, only, however, to stand over until next meeting, when goodness knows what the result will be. The fact of there being no public baths for a City like Dunedin is, and has been for years, a standing disgrace to our City Council ; and now that they have a chance of securing a site from the Harbor Board so centrally situated, and at a nominal cost, they hesitate to accept it. As with the Gasworks, so with public baths. It would appear that, collectively, they have not the capacity to grasp the matter, and carry the same out in a fit and creditable manner. Such being the case, I trust they will adopt the suggestion thrown out by Cr Robin, and have a plebiscite of the ratepayers, which will at once take all responsibility from their shoulders, and settle the question finally. I trugt to see other letters in the Press before the next Council meeting, re baths for this City. -1 am, etc., Bather. Dunedin, January 23.
