ANCIENT ORDER OF FORESTERS.
According to ?:©sdlutidn passed at Queenstown the half-yearly meeting of the U.0.D., A.U.h., was held at the Court-room at the Globe Hotel, Oamaru, last evening. Besides the District Officers there were delegates from Courts 1- nde of Dunedin, Enterprise, Pride of the Leith, Robin Hood, and Pride of Oamaru. There was a largo number of members present from the Oamaru Court on account of It being the first visit of the District Officers since the establishment of the Court in 1868. An unusually largfi amount of ccr* fine dealt With, and funeral claims to the amount of L7O disposed of. The balance-sheet and auditors’ report were read, and showed tbit the, total Worth of the District was L 2.124 Ss 4d, of which 1.1,285 was invested in freehold mortgage. The following nominations wore received: —hor D.C.R., Bros. Robertson, Grant, and Youngman | S.C. D.R., Bros. Wilkinson find Lewis,* D.t 5 ., Bro. W. Woodland} D.T., Bros. Macfie and Geddes: D.8., Bros. White and Barrow; auditor, Bro. Beatson. It was decided to hold tho next meeting at Port Chalmers. A sum of LlO 10s was voted to tho Oamaru Hospital. D.O.R. Bro. W. G. Geddea then closed the meeting. . The officers and delegates Were aftbtwfiroa entertained at d bdnipiet by the Oamaru Court. The spread was catered in a most satisfactory and substantial manner by Host Maitland, of tbo Globe Hotel. The usual loyal toasts were proposed and responded tc. The toasts of the evening, “ Ancient Order of Foresters ” and “Tho District Executive,” were responded to respectively by Bros, Woodland and Geddes, During tho evening numerous other toasts, interspersed with songs, were given, and the affair broke up at a late hour this morning.
