Australian trade, made atrial of her engines on September 25. The Norfolk is what is termed a tlucedock ship, differing from the ordinary spar-deck vessel. She is constructed on the girder principle, and of enormous strength, having floors of considerable depth and thlckuoss. Her masts are of iron in one length, with yards of steel. Her cabins give accommodation for about 500 passengers, in addition to which there is room for about 2,000 tons of cargo and 1,300 tons of coal. She is commanded by Captain J. Pyne O'Callaghan.
