Unreserved sale. A CORRECTION. To the Editor op the Evening Stab. IR-On looking to the 'Christian Record'

of the 21st inst., I find that Bishop Moran has done the Rev. Lindsay Mackie injustice in one passage of his Lordship's leader in this week's 'Tablet.' The Bishop, hurriedly concluding Mb article, wrote as follows:—" The Rev. Lindsay Mackie says, and the italics are his own: *We have it affirmed that the view which attaches guilt rests on n» solid foundation.' Not by Gury, who says the contrary. Gmy's words are * Vera scntcnlia affirmat, von infirmo fundammto innioca.' Every Latin scholar knows that this means 'ln truth an opinion resting on a foundation not weak affirms.' "What Gury, then, really says is : • The affirmative opinion rests on a strong foundation, The Rev. Lindsay Mackie here again attributes to Gury not only what he has not said, but the contrary." This is a mistake. The Kov. LiDdsay Mackie translated the words correctly : '• On no infirm foundation." I think it right, in the Bishop's absence, to make thb correction, but leave anything more until his Lordbhip's return.—l am, &c, John P. Perrin. Dunedin, March 29,1879.
