KAITANGATA RELIEF FUND.

The Central Committee for the above acknowledge the following further receipts : Mat-iura Bridge local co nmittee, per Sir R. Winning, LSS 15s 6d ; Tokomairiro district, per R. R. Jones, L 363 8s; Stirling district, per Rev. J. Allan, L 124 12s ; P. F. Daniel, proceeds of the sale of "The Song of the Shop," LI I 2a 6d : Forbury Bchool, per Mr R. Reid, LI 2 9s Sd ; Alex. Reunie, L2 2s ; Mrs Wilkic, L33s ; entertainment at New Plymouth, per Ralph H. Thompson, Lls 123 ; Whare Flat, per R. Mitchell, L 7 4s 6d ; E. M. Purdie, L2 2s ; Little Bertie's twelve months' savings, per B. Isaacs, 16s sd; concert at Clifton, per J. Sanderson, Ll4. The lists of the Clutha sub-committee show collections to date to tie amount of L 195 12s. A meeting of the local committee was held yesterday afternoon. The secretary reported that the total amount of subscriptions to date was L 479 18s 9d, exclusive of the Livingstone, Waiareka, and Teaneraki lists not yet to hand. Ab the former of these was expected to be over L2O, the total sum it was expected would be about LSOO. The followingresolutions were passed:—"Thatthc secretary pay over the amount collected to Mr C. S. Allen, treasurer of the North Otago Benevolent Society, by cheque ; and that in for varding the said cheque he write to the society stating that the money so paid over is handed to the society on the understanding that it (the society) will forward to the central committee, in Dunedin, an equal amount, or such larger sum as it may vote for the same object; and that it be stated by the society in forwarding payment to Dunedin that the amount forwarded is the amount of special subscription for Kaitangata Relief Fund collected in Oamaru and surrounding district forwarded per North Otago Benevolent Society; and, further, that it be intimated to the Dunedin committee that application will be made to the Government for subsidy thereon in favor of the North Otago Benevolent Society, the said; Society having been prevented, it is understood, from making the annual house to house canvass in aid of the local charity by Reason of this special effort." " That the Society be requested to forward to the Central Committee, together with the amaunt remitted, the recommendation contained in the Rev. Mr Gilford's resolution." —' N.O. Times.

Bruce, North Branch, LlO 10s; Jas. Strain, Helensbrook, Lll; R. Murray and W. Moore, Clarksville, L 23 16s ; E. M. Duthie, Fairfax, Ll2 15s 6d ; A. Calder, Lovell's Fiat, Ll4 6s 6d; J. M'Donald and J. Blues, Milburn, L 27 8s ; A. M'Duff, Manuka Creek, L 7 8s; Clutha Floods Committee, L7O; Bruce County Council, LIOO. Total, L 363 Ss. The Mayor added that Court Bruce (A.0.F.) would remit about L 25 direct to the Central Committee. As to his knowledge contributions had been made by residents to collectors in Dunedin and elsewhere before the local committee had organised their efforts, the district must have in all contributed little if anything short of L4OO, an amount that would stand comparison with any portion of the Colony whatever, considering the financial position of the district, and the many calls that have been made of late for charitable purposes.—'Bruce Herald.'
