The prizes w«n at the late meeting of the Otago Rifle Association were then presented by Lieutenant-Colonel Stavely; a presentation consisting of a silver match-box being made to Sergeant Paxton for his services in connection with the late meeting.

A difficulty is likely to arise with regard to the annual Interprovincial matches between Canterbury and Otago. As Canterbury's annual prize-meetin" takes place at Easter, the match, according to the present arrangement, should be fired then, or four months after the first match. The next competition would not then take place till the Otago Rifle Association's meeting in December, 1880, or an interval of twenty months.
