Saturday, January 4. (Before I. li*. Watt, Esq., R.M.) _ Drunkenness.— Francis South was convicted and discharged; John Forbes was fined 10s. Petty Theft.— William Littlejohn, a young man, was placed in the dock charged with stealing a piece of timber of the value of Gd, the property of James G. F. Willington.—Accused's conduct in the box was most extraordinary, and as Inspector Mallard explained that his intellect appeared to be weak, he was remanded for medical examination. Jehus in Trouble.—Archibald Muirhead was charged on summons with having on the Ist inst. conducted himself in a manner calculated to provoke a breach of the peace. Defendant said he knew nothing ©f the charge.—Detective Bain deposed that he knew the accused, who was a cabdriver. Witness was on duty in Princes street between the hours of midnight and four o'clock in the morning of the 4th inst. Neglected Children.—Robert M'Lintuck (2 years) and Jes; ie M'Lin u (4 years) were brought before the Court as neglected children by their mother, who stated that her husband had deserted her and gone to Hew South Wa'es.
