The Evening Star. FRIDAY, APRIL 5, 1878.
A return cricket match between the employed of the Dunedin and Vulcan Foundries will be played to-morrow afternoon at 2.30 p.m. This morning was fixed for the sitting of the Jury List Revision Court, before Mr J. Bathgate, R.M. There being no objections the list was deolared correct. In chambers this morning Mr Justice Johnston granted a special jury in the case of Morris v. the Albion Brewing Company, the trial of which has been postponed till the 15th inst. At the Princess's last night the U.S. Minstrels gave another of their amusing entertainments. There will be a change of to-morrow. The only business transacted at the Port Chalmers Police Court this morning was a charge of drunkenness preferred against a seaman named Matthew Vincent, who, after receiving a severe reprimandj from his Worship, was discharged. "The Willow Copse" was played at the Queen's for the last time last night. To-night the performance will be for the benefit of the widow of the late Wm. Armstrong, when an addition to the dramatic company Professor Long and Onzalo—will appear. The Shakespeare Olub will meet for study to-morrow evening. The monthly meeting of the Dunedin branch of the Educational Institute will be held in the Normal School, Tomorrow (Saturday),at 11 a.m Jir Mr G. R. West, the organist of Trinity Weßleyan Church, has presented the Opohe with a handsome harmonium to assist in the service. Mr Henry Dench, as will be seen in onr advertising columns, announces himself as a candidate for the Port Chalmers vacancy in the Houbo of Representatives. The Dunedin Football Club will commence Society s Urouadß with a pick-up game between sides chosen by the captain and vicecaptain from the players who aro present The players are expected on the ground by 2.30 sharp. *
