QtrxKHSTows, February 17.—The County Council have accepted tencfters for repairing and extending the Shotover bridg«, and also accepted tenders for keeping roads and! tracks in repair for twelve months. The tend>ars were numerous and moderate in their terms. As the Government proposed to appoint a commonage ranger the twenty-four applications for that post were not dealt with. Quexnstown, February 19.—The Government appoint the cattle ranger (Campbell) to be Sheep Inspector. This saves tJb.B County Council one situation. The only expensesjyet involved by the Council are renting one of Manders's front offices at 5s per week; the Council refused to rent another office as furniture would have to be provided for it.
