WASTE LAND BOARD.
The weekly meeting of the Board was held this morning ; present—Mr A. G. Strode, Deputy-Commissioner (in the chair), Messrs Bastings, Butterworth, and Clarke.
Messrs F. Bogatsky, P. Jacob Koukee, and John Weobloskie applied to purchase areas held by them in the township of Greytown, at the price of L 3 per Section—viz., section 13, block 12, sections 17 and 18, block 12, having occupied and built upon the land under authority of the Government. Inasmuch as the 29th section of the Waste Lands Act, 1872, makes' it imperative that .the Board, before taking any action in this matter, should have the approval of the Superintendent and Provincial Council first obtained, applicants were recommended, under all the circumstances, to petition the House of RepresentaHves now maessipn, Messrs William kAd ; John Cufeng applied to be allowed to purchase section 13, block 14, Crookston District, 17 acres 30 poles, at LI per acre, 'Referred to Chief Surveyor, asking him to be good enough to state whether there is any objection to selling f the section. .; \ A statement was forwarded by the Chief j Surveyor on the application by J. N. Wood ’ to be allowed to. purchase fifteen, acres of ; section P, block % Waikaia districtr and to \ exchange agricultural lease No. 214 c for sec-. tion 3, block 3, Waikaia district, for do-! ferred payment lease, - The request was complied with. Messrs Connell and Hoodie, for Samuel Smart,_ applied for, leave to abandon deferred payment selection in Herriot Hundred, and to have deposit returned. There being a speciality in this case, inasmuch as no certificate was until quite lately issued, it was agreed that the request be complied with, and the deposit returned. Messrs Connell and Moodie,' pn behalf of the I >unedin Corporation, appeared to oppose grant of applications to purchase lands held under agricultural leases, block 3, North Harbor and Blueskin district, adjourned from last meeting. The request to purchase was complied with.—The Government forwarded .4 letter received from the Town Clerk and also a reply thereto, with reference to extension of water supply in North Harbor and Blueskin district, block 3. The correspondence was read and considered. Ranger Valpy lodged information against Messrs Geo. Fraser, James Scott, and Chas. ; Henderson for cutting and removing timber from the Waipori Bush without license. It was decided that no license should be issued to George Fraser should he apply for one. Several applications to purchase under agricultural lease and deferred payment lease, and to exchange agricultural for deferred payment leases were approved.
