ROAD BOARD MEETINGS.

The Oa-orshum Road Board met on Thursday toight in the school-house, when there were S resent Messrs Rutherford, Wilson, Carey, ones, Jackson, Langmuir, Bridgman, and U'Rcn. Mr Rutherford in the chair. Tenders were then opened for works advertised for, when the tender of Messrs Robert Carson and Co. was accepted for the formation of the streets in Calderville, combined with alterations to Goodall street, for Ll3O 10s, and rotten rock for said streets at 3s 3d per yard. The tender of Mr Wm. Meade was accepted for supplying 900 yards rotten rock for Scafield road, at 3s 8d per yard. The tender of Mr Paul K. Leyden was accepted for 300 yards rotten rock for Hillside road, at 3s 4cl per yard ; and the tender of Mr John Stokes was accepted for 300 yards broken metal for the St. Kilda road, from Hay’s Corner, at 6s The Inspector was authorised to build (by day labor) two bridges on Bay View road; two bridges on St. Kilda road ; to make a road from Si. Kilda road to the Forbury school-house; to make small ditches along Reid road, from Hillside road to Sea field load ; a j £° P^ ace B^x 9 r seven bridges in Forbury and South Dunedin, leading to new roads in ■aid townships. , A meeting of the Roslyn Road Board was held last evening in the Schoolhouse, Linden: present—Messrs A. H. Ross (chairman), Begg, Curie, Farley, Kilgour, and Lambert. Tenders were opened for cutting trenches and forming footroad across the swamp at Andevston. The lowest tender (Mr Scott’s) was accepted ; the work to be completed in two weeks. Mr G. S. Duncan was appointed engineer and surveyor « \° -A- motion by Mr Farley, to the ettect that the engineer be instructed to take levels of the main district road, from White's store, near the sale yards, to Mr R. B. Martin’s fence, with the view of forming the same on an uniform gradient, was rejected; the Board being of opinion that the road being one of the best in the district, any expenditure, except a few pounds in improving the gradient near the junction with the Halfway Bush road (which was ordered to be done), was unnecessary. Daymen’s accounts, amounting to L2O 7s, were passed for payment. A circular from the General Government, requiring information as to rateable value of property, &c., and a letter from the Provincial Government refusing to subsidy on subscriptions, were also considered; after which the meeting adjourned.
