Some very tine sapphires have been found in the district of Warwick, Queensland. A hard-up individual in Ballarat, the other day, picked up a 27 ounce nugget among the road metal in the street. At Christchurch, refuse flax is about being utilised in the manufacture of coarse paper. By the ship City of Auckland, which sai'ed for London from Auckland, on December 7th, the Bank of New Zealand sent to the Vienna Exhibition one box of gold and silver, the produce of the Thames Goldfields.- Cross. Fifty pounds of stone from the Messenger’s claim (tribute), at the Thames, has yielded 320z ounces sdwts of gold. —Seventy pounds from Moore’s Lease, Coromandel (Auckland), gave 360z lOdwts,—Forty pounds from the Royal Oak claim, on the same field, gave 530z. —At Haddon, Victoria, a bucket of stone, weighing 58 pounds, yielded 270z 15dwts.
