Government Notices. NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT LIFE INSURANCE AND ANNDI i lES. THE Government having been empowered by special Acts of Hie Legislature to enter into contracts for Insurances on Lives, and for the grants of Annuities and Endow* ments, are now prepared to execute any of the usual contracts dependent upon the contingencies of human life. The following advantages are presented as deserving of Public attention, and especially of the Working Classes 1, The tables of Premiums in all the branches are considerably less than in any other office in New Zealand. 2, All transactions, and Powers of Attorney and other documents, are free of Stamp Duty and all taxation. 3. No charge is made beyond the purchase money or premium, paid quarterly, half-yearly, or annually. 4, Fourteen or twenty-one days of grace, according to the intervals of payment, are allowed beyond the due dates; and should the assured die during these periods, the policy will still be valid. 5. Surrender values are granted on the whole or any part of a contract which has endured for five years. 6. Residence is permitted in any part of the Australasian Colonies or Europe, and premiums may always be paid on the due dates at the nearest Money Order Office. 7. Insurances effected for the benefit of and settled on Wife or Children are free, to the extent of L 2,000, from the claims of Creditors. 8. The Consolidated Revenue of the Colony is liable for all claims, in the event of the monies received (which are safely invested at compound interest) at any time being insufficient to meet demands, thus affording the best security to the Assured. TENDERS are invited by the Colonial Government for the supply of Fifty Thousand SLEEPERS for the Canterbury Railways, The sleepers may be either of Totara Jarrah, Oregon, Black Pine, Black Birch, or Kauri. Specifications may be seen at the office of the Resident Minister for the Middle Island at Christchurch, the Public Works Office, Wellington, the Offices of the District Engineers at Dunedin and Hokitika, and with the General Government Agent, Auckland. Tenders will be received at the Office of the Resident Minister, Christchurch, until noon of the 16th May, 1872. The lowest or any tender not necessarily accepted. Wellington, Ist May, 1872. A R. ELECTORAL DISTRICTS OF DUNEDIN, ROSLYN, CAYERSHAM, PORT CHALMERS, AND TAIERI. Notice is hereby given, that the Revising Officer for the above Electoral Districts will hold Courts for the Revision of the respective Lists of Voters for the said Districts, at the times and places following— For the districts of DUNEDIN, ROSLYN, and CAVERSHAM, on Thursday, the 16th day of May, 1872, at 10 o’clock in the forenoon, at the Resident Magistrate’s Court, Dunedin. For the District of PORT CHALMERS, on Saturday, the 18th day of May, 1872, at 10 o’clock in the forenoon, at the Resident Magistrate’s Court-house, Port Chalmers. For the District of TAIERI, on Saturday, the 25th day of May, 1872, at 10 o’clock in the forenoon, at the Resident Magistrate’s Court-house, Outram. At which said Courts will be heard and determined all claims duly made to have names inserted in the said respective Lists of Voters, and all objections duly made to the names of persons being retained or placed on the Klectoral Rolls of the said Districts. The names of persons whose Christian names or whose qualifications shall be wholly omitted, where by law required to be specified in the said lists, or whose place of abode or the nature or description of whose qualifications are insufficiently described for the purpose of being identified, will be expunged unless the matter so omitted or insufficiently described, be then supplied. The Revising Officer will also, at the said Courts, make such corrections in the said Lists, smd do all such other acts as are required of him by the “ Registration of Electors Act, 1866.” Dated at Dunedin this first day of May, 1872.
