Vincent Morris was charged with com* mitting an indictable offence against the person of Fanny Goodall, a little girl, at Caversham, on Sunday evening last. Charles Goodall, gardener, said he was living at Caversham. He knew the accused, who had been at work on the Caversham railwhjr. When he got back he found prisoner in his house, and asked him wliat he bad been doing. Prisoner wanted to pass it over, but he would not allow it, and he told him at once to leave his house. - He went £way, but on Monday morning he came back again, mi he information to the police, Fanny Qo/pdall, a child about twelve of agdj wept tp bed with her little sister abopt eight o’clock on Sunday evening, and was wpke ; iijp % Hhdihg”pm6n6r lying across the bed. She and her sister cried, when he left and went into the other room, where there was a light burning. She afterwards put on a few things, and went and told her father. Upon the application of the Commissioner of Police, the case was remanded to Monday next. THEFT. William Doherty was charged with stealing a pbfct, valued at L 3 10s, from the Albion Hptel, the prpperty of James Sterling. Prisoner pleaded not guilty. Commissioner Weldon said the possession of the coat had been brought home to the prisoner • but he should ask for a remand till to-morrow, to procure other evidence. The case was remanded.
