The Melbourne Journal of Commerce of the 14th inst. reports import markets fairly active. Bulk ales command attention, sales limited. Bottled beers, an upward tendency. Speculation in cornsacks, over 400 bales sold, upward tendency. No improvement in woolpacks. Large eales of candles at full rates. Bacon and hams scarce and high. Cements lower, stocks heavy. Chemicals slightly firmer. Confectionery lower. All fish in demand, prices sustained. Dried fruits improved. Less bxisiness in hops. Brisk demand in breadstuff's. Quicksilver at full prices. Extensive business in teas at slightly easier rates. Timber advanced. Wines and .spirits have been chiefly sold at auctions.
