(from our own correspondent.) Bluff, 2.40 p.m. Arrived—Star of the Evening, having made a run from Hokitika to the Bluff in 45 hours. She brings news to the 21st inst. Business both at Hokitika and the Grey is good. The weather has been hot and dry, and bars are consequently dangerous. The John Bullock has been safely launched. Maid of the Yarra has completely gone to pieces.. Engine and boiler saved. Schooner Pat the Rover run ashore on the South Spit at Hokitika. The Star of the South had not arrived. The Engineer of the tug Yarra accidentally shot himself when out shooting. Tke BcacH diggings are doing exceedingly well. Fifty pounds weight of gold has been brought in by the same party who brought in one hundred pounds weight a few weeks ago. New rush to Lake Bremer. The Elizabeth arrived from. Sydney on the 21st inst., and after landing her passengers, proceeded on to Dunedin. She brings 18 cabin and 30 steerage passengers.
