The Argus says :—The Intercolonial Exhibition, to be held in Melbourne in August 1866, promises to become a great success. At a meeting of the commissioners, held yesterday, the secretary's progress report was read, of which the following is an abstract:—" The principal bus.' ness done since the last meeting has been of a preliminary kind. Between the printer and the stationer, my time has been chiefly occupied, and there is yet much to be done before the project can be considered as thoroughly placed before the public. Arrangments have been made for giving a short advertisement to every newspaper published in Victoria, and lam following this up by preparing to supply the press with such information as will procure for us the same liberal support, by leading articles and favourable notices, as was given to the Exhibition of 1861. In the course of a week or two our placards and other papers will be seen in every townsliip in. "Victoria, and similar placards "will Toe £orthwith sent to the other colonies. From the inquiries already made, and the general tone of the public with regard to the project, I am fully satisfied that the exhibition will assame such, proportions as will render the present building inadequate for the purposes in view. On this subject I shall shortly submit my calculations in a definite form. lam happy to state that the committee of the Beechworth Museum have promptly volunteered their assistance, and as on the last occasion the collection from Beechworth was the most complete of any forwarded to Melbourne, it is gratifying to find the local authorities again ready to support us."
