Wakatip.—-The declaration of the poll was made yesterday at the Camp, Queenstown, by the Returning Officer, L. Broad, Esq., when Mr Haughton was declared duly elected. The following is the result : —Haughton, 51 ; Maud era, 14.— Mail, Nov. 1. Farming operations are proceeding vigorously, and a good deal of land is being placed under crop. The greater portion consists of oats, though several are putting in wheat. The season is a promising one, and farmers are in better spirits. Large purchases of oats have left the market bare. The last sales by growers were 6s 6d to 7s per bushel of 401bs. Potatoes are heavy, and prices still low.— lbid. Txjapeka.—The consecration of the Lodge "Saint George's," Tuapeka, and the installation of the Worshipful Master, and the investiture of the Officers took place in the hall of the new Lodge-room on the evening of Wednesday last. E. Nathan, Esq., Pro- S.G.W., acting under a dispensation from the Deputy Pro. G.M., Brother J. Lazar, attended from Dunedin to perform the ceremony. In addition to the members of the Lodge, a few brethren, chiefly belonging to the adjoining districts, were present. The hall was neatly arranged, and the various preparations for the working of the Lodge proved to be in all respects satisfactory. The following were appointed officers :-—Brothers Lapsley, P.M., G. B. Vause, S.W., Charles Worthington, J.W., John Drummond, S.D., M'Lean, J.D., W. M'Beath, Secretary, B, O. Carrick, 1.G., and T. Arthur, Tyler. Brother J. C. Brown was requested to act as Treasurer, pro tern. Subsequently several gentlemen were proposed for initiation, and three Brethren as joining members. After some further routine business had been transacted, the Lodge was closed in due form. Immediately after the principal business of the evening had been finished, a banquet in honor of the occasion took place in the Lodge-room. Tuapeka Recorder, Nov. 3.
