OPENING DELAYED
TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS
Because of rain during the greater part of the morning, the opening ot the Wellington tennis championships was delayed until shortly after noon. With a big entry list to get through the elimination stage, this delay was an unwelcome start for the annual series, the finals of which are scheduled for Saturday. ..... Brown beat Nixon G-0 6 0'; Renouf beat Mayo 7-5, 6-4; Webster beat Barnett 0-0, G-0; Taylor beat Mataira b*Woracn's Singles.—Second round: Miss Fleming beat Miss B. Cross 6-2. 6-1.
