RESTITUTION MEASURES

BRITISH POLICY IN SIAM

Rec. 11.20 a.m. LONDON, Dec. 20. Britain's policy in Siam was based on the desire to renew as soon as possible the friendly and cordial relations which existed before the war, and to see Siam resume her place as a sovereign, independent, and prosperous country, said the Parliamentary undersecretary of the Foreign Office, Mr. H. McNeil, in the House of Commons. He welcomed the opportunity, ha said, of stating Britain's policy in view of very misleading and tendentious statements which were appearing in the foreign Press. Britain, however, felt that she was entitled to require Siam to take measures of restitution for injury, loss, and damage caused to British and Allied interests.
