AUSTRIAN PRESIDENT
DR. KARL RENNER ELECTED Rec. 9 a.m. LONDON, Dec. 20. Dr. Karl Renner, Prime Minister in the Austrian Provisional Government, was unanimously elected President of the Republic at a joint session of both Houses of Parliament, stated Vienna radio.
The proceedings were'broadcast over the Austrian radio—an event without precedent in the Parliamentary history of Centra] Europe. The names of the deputies being called to cast a vote in the ballot-box could be heard for half-an-hour.
