TROTTING IN SOUTH

NEW BRIGHTON MEETING

The New Brighton Trotting Club's Summer Meeting at Addington tomorrow, will inaugurate the light-harness attractions for the holidays and judging by the well-balanced fields there should be excellent exhibitions of this popular sport. Practically all the available intermediate talent is engaged, while the principal events have attracted some'really first-class pacers. The main contest of the day will be the President's Handicap, a 4.27 class event over two miles. It is possible the favourite .will* be Gold Chief, who should be alPthe better 'for his run recently at Addington, especially as that was his?lfrrst race for over 18 months. At1 his best he is a really fine performer. ,and, ,jt •is to be hoped he continues to stand up to preparation. Dundee Sandy is a proved stayer who is just reaching the peak of his form. Last season he won four of his eight appearances, and this term he has won once in three starts, and made a twomile record of. 4.21 1-5. Bulldozer created a rare surprise when he scored at Addington ?at his last appearance, but the fact that he registered a shade worse than 4:19 on that occasion must afford him a chance. Karangi, Scott Axworthy, and Knave of Diamonds have all bettered their present handicaps and should add interest to the contest. , BETTING AND CARD.
