PAHIATUA MEETING

USEFUL FIELDS ENGAGED The only club starting its Christmas racing tomorrow is the Dunedin Jockey Club, which will operate at Wingatui, with the second and third days set down for Boxing Day and December 29. In the North Island the Pahiatua Club will hold a one-day meeting on the Woodville course. Most of the horses engaged at Woodville will go on to either Awapuni or Waipukurau, with other meetings opening at the New Year.

Unfortunately for the Pahiatua Club, several of the expected runners in the Christmas Handicap had their engagements cancelled, their owners preferring to wait for the Manawatu Meeting, where Duality is due to contest the Manawatu Cup, and Lady Spiral and Broiefield the Grandstand Handicap, the open nine furlongs. Although she originally figured as an acceptor. Alcyone was left in the big rac- at Woodville in \ error. The Foxbridge mare will do her holiday racing at Ellerslie. FORM AND THE CARD. Although not large, the fields for tomorrow are quite sufficient to ensure interesting racing, and the form will be closely followed in view of events ahead.
