APPEAL DISMISSED
An appeal by Gibsons and Palerson. importers, of Wellington, against a judgment of Mr. W. F. StilweU. S.M., 'dismissing a claim against the Waterhouse Manufacturing Co., Ltd., of Wellington, for £324 for breach of warranty on the sale of a quantity of silver and electro-plato polishing powder, has been dismissed by - the Chief Justice (Sir Michael Myers) in a reserved judgment. The question, said' his Honour, was whether the article was a reasonably effective polishing powder, even though it might not stand comparison with the powder previously imported. He felt hound, after the demonstration to which the powder had been put in the presence of counsel and himself, to come to the same conclusion as the Magistrate.
For the theft of a pair of men's socks valued at 5s lid from a city store, John Patrick Keown, labourer, 47, was sentenced by Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court today to 14 days' imprisonment.
